2010 National AHEC Organization Conference

Letter of Invitation from Rob Trachtenberg, President, National AHEC Organization

Dear Colleagues:

On behalf of the National AHEC Organization Board of Directors, I am pleased to invite you to attend the 2010 National AHEC Organization Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada June 20-June 24, 2010.

AHEC’s mission is “To enhance access to quality health care, particularly primary and preventive care, by improving the supply and distribution of healthcare professionals through community/academic educational partnerships.” In keeping with this mission, the theme for the conference is “AHECs Role in Healthcare Workforce Development: Pipeline to Retention.” This certainly could not be a more timely and appropriate charge for our network of 52 schools of medicine, 2 schools of nursing and over 230 community-based centers.

The Conference Planning Committee is working assiduously to develop a dynamic, comprehensive, and highly practical agenda. The program will include keynote addresses and plenary sessions by national leaders in health care, concurrent and poster sessions with skilled presenters, pre-conference workshops, orientation for new directors, as well as small-group activities and committee meetings. The 2010 NAO Conference promises to be excellent and filled with abundant professional opportunities to grow, network with colleagues, and learn from one another. Plan on participating in as many sessions as you can!

A number of exciting excursions will also be offered for you and your family around the conference, so be sure to take advantage of some of the more unique experiences Las Vegas has to offer. Don’t miss the chance to have some fun! Be sure to register for the 2010 NAO Conference now.

I look forward to seeing you all in Las Vegas this coming summer! Thank you for your hard work and diligent efforts in striving to fulfill NAO’s mission.

Be well,

Robert Trachtenberg, MS
National AHEC Organization President, 2009-2010
