Northeast SD AHEC and Southeast SD AHEC are excited to share information on this month's SD AHEC Scholars: Rural Health Leadership Program’s Scholars Session! Join us to learn about reducing disparities among Native Americans, as well as culturally grounded prevention and intervention efforts across South Dakota! Students who attend this session should expect to gain knowledge and increase their understanding of: • Oceti Sakowin History & Treaties • Tribal Public Health • Revitalization Through Culture • Creating Networks of Understanding SPEAKER & CONTENT EXPERT Damon Leader Charge, Sicangu Oglala Lakota, an enrolled of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, is the director of tribal outreach for USD’s Office of Academic Affairs and Assistant Coordinator of the Sanford School of Medicine’s Diversity and Inclusion Offices. Damon’s professional interests focus around reducing disparities among Native Americans as well as culturally grounded prevention and intervention efforts. Prior to returning to USD, Leader Charge was the director of health administration for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Other experience includes Indian education, suicide prevention, tribal legislative affairs, community outreach, and cultural humility trainings.
